Happy Fourth of July, New Jersey! There are so many ways to celebrate Independence Day but one of the best may be with a patriotic pizza.

Outta Hand Pizza in Westwood recently created America’s largest Sicilian-style American Flag Pizza! They even submitted it to Guinness for consideration. A response is expected in the next few weeks.

The 4’ x 9’ patriotic pizza was made to honor the armed forces and to give back to local first responders.

The pizza cutting was personalized by the presence of two veterans - one from World War II and one from the Korean War.

The pizza took around 12 hours to make and consisted of 44 pounds of dough, three loaves of mozzarella and five gallons of sauce. Some of the mozzarella was dyed navy blue to match the flag.

If you’d like to get your own, the pizzeria will be offering them on a smaller scale leading up to July 4th. I’d pick one up to celebrate Independence Day! If you do, you may want to check out their pre-pay program…a local program which allows community members to donate $16 to sponsor a veteran’s meal. Outta Hand pizza is open 11 am – 9 pm, Monday – Thursday, 11 am – 9:30 pm on Friday and Saturday, and 12 pm – 9 pm on Sunday. Address: 311 S Avenue W, Westfield, NJ, 07090.
