New Orleans is known as the most haunted city in the country. We have numerous bars, hotels, and cemeteries where it seems like even after death, people just don’t want to leave New Orleans. If you’re a believer, then you have to find the time to head over to this one restaurant, where you just might have a paranormal encounter of your own.
You’ll find Maison Soulé right in the heart of the French Quarter on St. Louis Street.
Jo G./Trip Advisor This rustic restaurant opened its doors in 2011, but the history of the building goes back much further.
Named after the building’s original owner, Pierre Soulé, this historic mansion has worn many hats since it was built in 1832.
KatieBondy/Trip Advisor The building has served as Mr. Soulé’s home, an orphanage, a Sinatra-centric bar in the 60s, and a home to countless notable figures.
Over the buildings nearly 200 years, numerous individuals have passed away in the mansion, and many believe the iconic St. Louis building may be haunted by spirits from the past.
Jo G./Trip Advisor Both the second and third floors seem to have the most activity, with the third floor being a bit of a paranormal hotspot. Staff have reported hearing children giggling when no one is around, the feeling of being touched, and glassware flying across the bar when there aren’t any reasonable explanations.
After one of the staff members saw the image of a young woman walking across the stairway and then vanishing into thin air, many after staff members refuse to even go up to the third floor.

Their lunch and dinner menu features an assortment of Cajun and Creole are that would make even Boudreaux and Thibodeaux proud.
Maison Soule/Google Crawfish étouffée, BBQ shrimp & grits, and andouille po’boys are just some of the items you’ll find on the menu.
They’re also open for breakfast Friday through Sunday, and you’ll want to wake up early for this amazing menu.
Maison Soule/Facebook From bananas foster waffles to scrambled eggs, there’s something for both sweet and savory breakfast eaters here. Pictured above is their eggs Lafitte: two poached eggs on top of a buttermilk biscuit with a healthy drizzle of their unique crawfish hollandaise. Yum! This particular version also has a fried green tomato and a crab cake lumped in, which sounds amazing.
