The Hawaiian Islands are home to approximately 750 miles of coastline — and countless incredible beaches in a variety of colors and landscapes. And while we love the famous beaches — Waikiki and Ka’anapali, for example — there’s something about visiting a secluded spot that makes your weekend feel much more adventurous. If you’re not sure where to go, might we suggest this small and gorgeous stretch of sand nestled along the coast of the Valley Isle? Just be warned, though: you’ll never want to leave.
Located along the southern shore of Maui, just south of the wildly popular Makena Beach, is Pa’ako Cove, a small stretch of sand nestled between two homes that is as pretty as a postcard.

Also known as Secret Cove, this Maui beach is no secret at all. In fact, it just so happens to be a popular spot for wedding ceremonies. And really, who can blame them? With palm trees swaying in the breeze, this lava-strewn beach with fine white sand and crystalline turquoise waters is easily one of the island’s most gorgeous.

While Secret Cove might not be an actual secret anymore, it is found off the beaten path. Many tourists headed to La Perouse Bay will pass by this captivating cove without knowing it.

If you arrive bright and early in the morning before anyone else has had the chance to leave their footprints in the fine, white sand, it will feel like a secret… if only for a little while.

Though this beach isn’t particularly great for swimming and you won’t find any facilities here, amateur and professional photographers alike love capturing this gorgeous setting. You can even see the islands of Kaho’olawe and Molokini from shore!
