You’ll find a variety of authentic cuisine from all over the world inside the local restaurants of Cincinnati. Of course, everyone knows where to get great German fare (try Mecklenburg Gardens) and even incredible Greek dishes (head to Sebastian’s), but that’s just the beginning of the deliciousness in the Queen City. One savory dish that many gravitate toward is the pierogi. If you’ve never had one of these dumplings that originated in Eastern Europe, it’s time to give them a try – and it’s easier than ever at this new pierogi restaurant in Cincinnati. Wodka Bar is a pierogi and vodka destination that takes you across the Atlantic, and everything about it is wonderfully authentic.

It’s always fantastic to witness the success of a local business, and Babushka Pierogies definitely has a story to tell. What began as an authentic Eastern European cuisine stand in Findlay Market (which is still in operation) later added a late night pierogi window (also still open) and has now evolved into the delicious Wodka Bar, a brick and mortar destination in OTR.

There has been great anticipation for Wodka Bar (pronounced “Vodka”) to open, especially from those who have long been a fan of Babushka Pierogies. The owner, Sarah Dworak, has deep family roots in Ukraine and, luckily for us, has brought her authentic family recipes to Cincinnati.

Dworak recently opened Wodka Bar on Main Street in Over-the-Rhine, and it has definitely become a new must-try spot in this vibrant neighborhood. It has a cozy, artistic bar atmosphere and offers a food and drink menu that’s unlike anything you’ll find elsewhere in the city.

The decor throughout the interior adds to the ambiance and is as beautiful as the drinks and dishes created behind the bar. Expect to find rich velvet, deep colors, and even a stained glass window that has been turned into a chandelier.

While this is mainly a bar that happens to have a dining menu, the food here is a huge draw. You can round out your “visit” to Europe with an order from the menu and sips of vodka to wash it down.
