Hiding near the small town of Bloomington in southeastern Idaho is a stunning mountain lake—Bloomington Lake— that you’ll definitely want to see for yourself. The trek to the lake is just one mile, and you’ll be surprised by the beauty that awaits you at the end of the trail.

You’ll traverse a dirt road from Bloomington before coming to a large parking area which contains the trailhead. As you set off on the trail, you’ll immediately be rewarded with stunning views of the area.

The trail has an elevation gain of just 150 feet, so it’s definitely manageable by most people. Many people even carry their own kayaks and paddle boards and such up to the lake.

Soon after starting the trail, you’ll come across a smaller lake. Although beautiful, it’s definitely not as impressive as Bloomington Lake, so don’t be fooled into thinking this is the trail’s final destination! Keep on the trail for a little while longer.

The lake’s water is definitely chilly, but it’s perfectly refreshing on a toasty summer day. On the east side of the lake is a rope swing which many people have launched themselves into the lake from. The cliffs on the south side of the lake are also a popular jumping off point.
