Watch as hot air balloons take their shape and gaze as they lift off into the sky at this four-day hot air balloon festival near Pittsburgh.

Turn your gaze toward the sky for the Thurston Classic in Meadville, about an hour and a half from downtown Pittsburgh, an annual hot air balloon festival set for Thursday, June 13, 2019 to Sunday, June 16, 2019.

An annual event in Meadville since 1988, the festival will feature more than two dozen hot air balloons, including the Rocket the Flying Squirrel balloon.

Admission to the festival is free, and a full menu of activities is planned. The Thurston Classic launches on Thursday with the magical Joyce Stevens’ Memorial Night Glow.

Kicking off at 9 p.m., the night glow features the participating hot air balloons all lit up. Don’t forget to bring a lawn chair or a comfy blanket for your space on the lawn. (Bring one with you all weekend, too.)

The weekend will also feature balloon races.
