This Waterfall Hike In Northern California Is Short And Sweet

Exploring one of Northern California’s numerous hiking trails is a great way to get your nature fix. Ending up at a beautiful waterfall is just the cherry on top! That’s exactly what you’ll find when you trek along the Mill Creek Falls Trail in Lassen Volcanic National Park. Hiding out in Lassen Volcanic National Park is a waterfall hike that you’ll definitely want to check out. At just over three miles, the Mill Creek Falls Trail is short and sweet, but it’s packed with natural beauty.

This lovely little trail begins just behind the park’s amphitheater across from the southwest parking area. Here you’ll find a paved trail that takes you straight to the hike’s trailhead.

Once on the trail, you’ll immediately start descending through the spectacular forest landscape. Lodgepole pines and red firs will completely surround you, providing plenty of shade and boasting awe-inspiring views.

The trail just continues to drop in elevation the further along you go. As you advance, you’ll be treated to views of stunning valleys, meadows, and West Sulphur Creek.

Once you’ve crossed the creek, the trail will then start to ascend along a hillside. If you time it correctly, you’ll witness outstanding swaths of wildflowers and greenery. Views of Mount Diller and Brokeoff Mountain can also be seen in the distance.
