This Scenic Trail In Minnesota Leads To An Abandoned Century Old Farm

In Jordan, Minnesota, the Mazomani Trail is one such spot. This beautiful trail crosses some of Minnesota’s most scenic landscape, and it leads to some surprising ruins. Mazomani Trail is a beautiful trail in the Minnesota Valley National Wildlife Refuge. You’ll find the trail, a part of the Louisville Swamp area, just outside Jordan, Minnesota.

Mazomani is a loop trail just over 5 miles in length. While it is not paved, it is maintained throughout the year. You’ll easily find your way through the trees and tall grasses.

The trail is lush in the summertime. With a canopy of trees over you, you’ll feel like you’re in your own little world.

The trail also offers beautiful water views. As you walk, you’ll catch glimpses of a lovely, slow creek.

But perhaps the most unexpected sight is the remains of an old farm. One of the old sandstone buildings was topped with a new roof in the early ’90s.

But most of this farm has fallen to ruin. It was once occupied by the Jab family over a century ago. Today, the crumbled buildings are all that remain.

Hike up the Mazomani Trail to see the ruins. Combined with the unique landscape of the swampy wildlife refuge, it makes for a fascinating day trip.
