One of the best things about living in New Orleans are the many different restaurants right at our fingertips. No matter what you’re craving, chances are that there’s a restaurant nearby serving just that. When you’re in the mood for some traditional New Orleans cuisine, be sure to pop on over to this old-school family run restaurant that has stood the test of time.

Welcome to Katie’s, a family owned and operated restaurant over in Mid-City.

Michael David/Trip Advisor Leo Leininger was tired of the oil industry and wanted a fresh start, so he opened Katie’s in 1984. It was actually his daughter, Cathy’s idea, and they decided to name the restaurant after her grandmother.

What began as a small little corner lunch restaurant has blossomed into a popular neighborhood eatery that locals just can’t get enough of.

Katie’s Restaurant/Facebook The Leininger family sold the restaurant to the Craig family in 2001, who have taken the Mid-City icon and continued to honor the legacy while making it their own.

From fried seafood to pasta dishes, there’s truly something for everyone on the menu here at Katie’s.

For starters, go ahead and get a plate of their swamp fries for the table.

Robyn W./Trip Advisor A mountain of cheese fries with their debris gravy as a dipping sauce. Yum!

You can’t go wrong with one of their po’boys.

NewYorkDon67/Trip Advisor These things are piled high with your favorite meat/seafood and dressed to your liking. Their roast beef po’boy has a huge following, and it’s 10/10 napkins good.

Their Oysters Slessinger is a tried and true favorite.

If that wasn’t enough, they also have some very unique pizzas.

Andrei/Trip Advisor Build your own or go with one of their specialty pizzas. Pictured above is their Atchafalaya pizza that’s stacked with shrimp, oysters, crawfish, crab cakes, bell peppers, red onions, and a Tabasco marinara sauce that will make your taste buds explode.

You can find Katie’s at 3701 Iberville St, New Orleans, Louisiana 70119.
