Minnesota is well-known as the Land of 10,000 Lakes. Many of the state’s lakes are picture-perfect for swimming, boating, fishing, and other outdoor recreation. But that doesn’t mean it’s always convenient to get to them. They may be far away, only accessible by boat, or overcrowded. Moreover, some people simply don’t like swimming in muddy-bottomed lakes full of slimy fish.
That’s where Minnesota’s natural swimming pool comes in. It’s the perfect mix between a lake and a pool, and it’s a great way to cool off this summer. Take a look:
Webber Natural Swimming Pool has been a popular pool in Minneapolis, Minnesota, since it opened in 2016. It’s located at the Webber Community Center and your whole family will enjoy a visit here.

If you’ve never heard of Webber, you might be wondering what a natural pool is. In short, it’s one that is not treated with chemicals to stay clean. Instead, filters and natural plants keep the pool clean.

A large basin containing 7,000 plants feeds the pool. It works sort of like a lake or river.

In the pool itself, there are no plants. It has a bottom just like any other pool. A zero-depth entry makes it easily accessible, with the shallow area going up to 3 feet 7 inches deep.

Other features include a diving platform for practicing jumps. The maximum depth of this area is 11 feet 7 inches.

There are even swimming lanes for practicing your laps. This is the only area of the pool that costs money! It’s open Tuesday through Friday, and it costs $3 to swim laps.

A grassy area surrounds the pool, perfect for spreading out a towel and soaking in some rays. The pool is open 1 p.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday through Sunday. Aside from the lap swimming area, it’s 100 percent free to get in!
