Spring is slowly making its way across Montana, and it won’t belong before our mountains and meadows are brimming with fresh grass and wildflowers. And if you happened to be an experienced hiker, you’re probably ready for your first challenge of the season. The Baldy Peak Summit Trail isn’t an easy trek, but the payoff is worth it.

Baldy Peak Mountain is located in the Bridger Range north of Bozeman.

Reaching the summit of Baldy Mountain is a one way hike of almost 4.5 miles with about 4000 feet of elevation gain.

Matthew Grove / alltrails.com You’ll definitely want to allow two or three hours to reach the top.

Once you do make it to the top, however, you’ll definitely want to stay awhile.

Nick Peterson / alltails.com The sweeping views will take your breath away (if the hike already hasn’t).

When you’ve taken in the views, all you’ll have to do is hike back down the mountain.

The Baldy Peak Summit trail is open all year, but it’s best hiked in the spring and summer. Here are some other beautiful Montana trails to explore this spring.
