The Mummy Springs Trail is actually an offshoot of the North Loop Trail on Mt. Charleston. Located approximately an hour away from Las Vegas, you’ll find the trailhead at the Spring Mountains Visitor Center.

The North Loop Trail is a fairly popular hike in the area, and the trail is well-marked and easy to follow. As you set off, you’ll be led into a beautiful landscape of pine tree forest. Farther along the trail, you’ll be treated to some grand views of the mountains and even Las Vegas in the distance.

The trail will then start a steep ascent up the east side of Mummy Mountain. Here you’ll come across some of the area’s famous ancient bristlecone pine trees, including the 3,000-year-old bristlecone known as Raintree.

From here, the trail branches off into the official Mummy Spring Trail. You’ll soon spot Mummy Spring located above a group of limestone cliffs. Getting close to it, you’ll see water emerging from the ground before lightly trickling down the rocks in a gentle cascade.

The spring is subtle, but it’s absolutely beautiful. Comprised of plenty of vegetation, the area is a great place to relax and cool off before heading back down the trail. During the colder months, the spring is even known to completely freeze over.
