Of course, a hotel with such a rich history is susceptible to its fair share of ghost stories and Murphys Historic Hotel has plenty. The most famous legend tells the story of a ghost named Eleanor.

It’s believed that Eleanor was a former maid during the hotel’s early years. She’s known to make most of her appearances in the kitchen or the Mark Twain Ballroom. She’s especially famous for throwing random small objects through the air.

However, Eleanor is far from the only ghost to call this hotel home. Guests have witnessed all sorts of bizarre paranormal activity, including children’s laughter and the apparition of what seems to be a gentleman ghost named John.

If you find yourself in need of any more convincing, just take a look at the paranormal journal situated on the nightstand of every room. This journal is a log of all former guests’ ghostly encounters. Be sure to add your own if you have one!
