We interrupt this seemingly endless winter with a happy reminder: Spring is, in fact, on the horizon. And whatever that means for you, we hope you find some time in your seasonal schedule to head to the iconic Skagit Valley Tulip Festival. For over 30 year, this festival has been a beautiful tradition for Washingtonians — and this year’s event will be better than ever.
The Skagit Valley Tulip Festival was officially inaugurated in 1984 by the Mount Vernon Chamber of Commerce after locals noticed people coming by the thousands year after year to check out the local tulip fields.
DearMsC / TripAdvisor In 1994, the Tulip Festival broke off from the Chamber of Commerce and became an entity of its own.
The original festival only lasted three days. It eventually moved to a week, and now it spans the entire month of April.
Stan Y / TripAdvisor The expansion to 30 days was to ensure that the huge fields of tulips grown in Skagit Valley would always bloom sometime during the festival, since a shorter festival sometime missed the blooming entirely.
While the official festival dates are April 1-30, it is, of course, impossible to predict the exact blooming date of the tulips.

The main attractions take place at two tulip farms, RoozenGaarde and Tulip Town.
Dolores N / TripAdvisor Both are open seven days a week during the festival, and they each have their own hours and admission prices.
Bring your family, bring a friend, or at the very least, bring a camera.

The festival now attracts people from all over the country and even some international guests.
Skagit Valley Tulip Festival Facebook In addition to the endless fields of flowers, there are plenty of activities to take part in, like a tulip parade and the Annual Tulip Run.
This amazing festival is a must-see for all Washingtonians.
