Tis the season to feast on those delicious mud bugs! This weekend, be sure to make time to head over to this delicious festival in New Orleans where you can eat endless crawfish and dance the day away. Living in the Big Easy just got a lot more delicious. Let’s take a look.
This Saturday, May 11, Crawfish Mambo returns to the UNO campus for its eighth year of celebration.

What started in 2012 as a humble little fundraiser to support professional development programs for UNO students has grown into the UNO Alumni Association’s primary fundraising event.

Whether you’re an alumni or not, the festival is for everyone. If you like crawfish, then you need to clear your schedule this Saturday.

The festival takes place Saturday, May 11 from 11 a.m.- 5 p.m. General Admission tickets are $25 if you purchase them ahead of time, and $35 if you purchase them at the gate on the day of the festival. Children seven and under are free, so bring the whole family for a fun-filled afternoon.

Your general admission ticket lets you feast on all the delicious crawfish you can eat. Be sure to come hungry, because you’re going to want to sample everyone’s boils!

Teams will be competing for cash prizes, trophies, and most of all… bragging rights. Who will be crowned the “Best Boil” Champion? There will also be prizes awarded for “Crowd’s Choice” and “Best Decorated Booth.” So get there early so you can sample several boils and cast your vote.

There will also be a crawfish eating competition. Think you’re the fastest eater? Sign up to see how fast you can strip those tails and suck the heads.

And of course, a festival isn’t complete without some live music to dance to.

In between boils, dance the day away to live music from your favorite local acts. This year, you can expect to jam to the tunes of the Bucktown All-Stars, Young Pinstripe Brass Band, Johnny Sketch & the Dirty Notes and J & The Causeways.
