The Panther Meadow Loop Trail is just 1.5-miles long, but it sure packs in a ton of beauty along its relatively short trail. Not only is Mt. Shasta visible for the majority of the way, but it also takes you through the utterly gorgeous Panther Meadow.

Panther Meadow is best described as an oasis at the base of the mountain. Full of lush greenery and bright green grass, it’s simply picturesque among the rugged volcanic scenery.

In fact, the meadow thrives because of a spring that waters and brings life to this area. Although intensely beautiful, the meadow is also quite fragile and hikers are urged to stay on the trail in order to preserve it as best as possible.

The trail is fairly popular and is easy to follow. You’ll find the start of it just east of Panther Meadow Campground. You’ll follow the trail past a few campsites before being plunged into the gorgeous meadow scenery.

You’ll come to a fork in the trail soon after entering the meadow. If you go right, you’ll be led into the lower meadow which boasts spectacular views of Mt. Shasta. If you stay left, you’ll continue along the Panther Meadow Trail as it reaches the end of the meadow.
