Traveling around the country once again, the Water Lantern Festival will be making not one but two stops here in the Empire State. Not too long ago, we shared on our Only In Buffalo page how this enchanting festival will be heading to the Queen City on Saturday, July 1st. If you can’t make the trek all the way out to Western New York though, don’t worry, the Water Lantern Festival will be making one more stop in New York before the summer’s over!
Taking place out along the Long Island Sound, the Water Lantern Festival will be coming to the North Hempstead Beach Park in Port Washington again this year.

Releasing a sea of glowing lanterns into the sound, you’ll be amazed by the sight of this Disney-like view. It’s almost impossible to not feel like you’ve stepped into Tangled!

All the lanterns released into the sound are eco-friendly and made out of wood and rice paper, so there’s no need to worry about any impact on the water or beach.

In fact, the cost of your ticket actually covers the cost of collecting and removing all the lanterns from the sound after the festival ends at 9 p.m. The Water Lantern Festival even cleans up any previously produced trash - ensuring that each festival site is left cleaner than it was before the event even arrived!
