Re-purposing has become extremely popular over the past few years, but the concept doesn’t only apply to furniture. These days, you can re-purpose just about anything, including buildings. Take, for example, The Vault restaurant in Magee. Aptly named, the building that houses the eatery used to be a bank. Though several changes have been made to the structure, signs of its past still exist, making for a unique dining experience. Take a look:

The Vault can be found in Magee, a small town between Jackson and Hattiesburg.

Opened earlier this year, the restaurant is situated in the former Trustmark bank building in the city’s downtown.

Though the building received some updates during its transformation from a bank to a restaurant, signs of its past still remain, including the steel vault and glassed-in executive office.

Even better, you can actually dine in the vault and glassed-in office. That’s right; you can enjoy a meal where millions of dollars were once stored or where the bank’s president made daily decisions regarding those millions of dollars.

Both rooms can (and should) be reserved in advance. Perfect for groups big or small, the bank vault can seat 4 – 6 people and the president’s office seats up to 10.

Just as memorable at the unique atmosphere is the restaurant’s fare, which includes southern classics with a bit of a twist.

The menu varies between lunch and dinner. During lunch, diners can chow down sandwiches, po’ boys, salads, specials, and more.

Dinner at The Vault is a bit more “upscale.” The tasty selection includes pastas, seafood, and…

… steaks that are “expertly seasoned and grilled to specifications just minutes before serving.”
