Built in 1882, the Section House was originally a home for nearby Denver, South Park, and Pacific railroad workers and their families, and served in this capacity until the route was abandoned in the 1930s.

Sadly, after the railroad and home were abandoned, the Section House began to decay and collapse until the 1990s, when both the US Forest Service and the Colorado Historic Society teamed up to restore and renovate the property.
