The zoo has many different kinds of birds and animals. Penguins, bald eagles, owls, and hornbills are just a few examples of the many feathered creatures here.

Among the hoofed animals, Japanese serow are interesting creatures that catch a lot of peoples’ eye. There are also Bactrian camels and Sika deer.

They also have quite a few big cats and large mammals such as snow leopards, tigers, lions, and brown bears.

One of their rarest residents is the Amur leopard. As of 2015, there were less than 100 individuals reported in the wild. Thanks to efforts of the Roosevelt Park Zoo and other places, their Amur leopards have had multiple cubs which have moved to other zoos to help save the species.
