There’s nothing like a stroll through an idyllic village on a lazy Sunday or weekday evening.

If you’ve yet to explore German Village in central Ohio, you’re truly missing out. Its architecture, local eateries, unique shops and history make it an ideal day trip destination no matter the season. In the spring and summer months, it’s unbelievably charming. (And in the fall and winter months, it’s downright romantic.)

Just south of downtown Columbus, you’ll find this quaint, historic village, which was settled by a large number of German immigrants in the mid-1800s.

Despite economic decline in the early 1900s, it is now one of the best places to live in the Columbus area.

There’s no shortage of delicious cuisine for lunch or dinner in German Village. Katzinger’s Delicatessen features a total of 77 different signature sandwiches.

You’ll also want to visit the beautiful Schiller Park, which is named after Friedrich Schiller and was once a community meeting ground for the German settlement.
