This small town in western Kansas really is the ultimate destination for your next weekend trip if you love everything Kansas.
Today’s town spotlight belongs to Scott City, a spot in western Kansas that has everything you need for a great road trip.

The first part of this trip involves some amazing history. El Quartelejo museum is our favorite place to start, with historic ruins of the only known pueblo built in Kansas. Of course most of it is gone now, but what’s left is still amazing to behold.

Nearby is Battle Canyon, the site of the last encounter between U.S. troops and Native Americans.

Of course, you will get hungry on your visit. so we recommend trying out The Grill House for lunch, where they make great foods of all sorts.

Speaking of big attraction, the one thing you can’t miss on this trip is definitely Monument Rocks. These gorgeous formations are made of Niobrara chalk, and were once part of a large inland sea that flowed over this area of the continent back before humans even existed. Amazing!

This whole trip in and around Scott City is perfect for any Kansan, especially if you love history and natural rock formations. Western Kansas is beautiful, and worth exploring whenever you’ve got the time.
