Louisiana may have several alligator parks, but few are as unique as this one. Located in Louisiana’s oldest city, this Natchitoches Alligator Park is truly one of a kind and a great attractions that the kids will absolutely love.
For a quintessential Louisiana day, head on over to the Natchitoches Alligator Park. They’re open for the season on Saturdays and Sundays from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. and it’s certainly worthy of a road trip from any corner of the state.

The eight-acre park opened up in 1997 and continues to expand with more and more attractions every year. As you explore the park, you’ll feel like you’ve been transported to a tiny Cajun village. This immersive park will take you through several different attractions.

There’s so much to see and do, it’s best to block off a couple of hours so you have the chance to experience the entire park.

Start your adventure from “alligator island,” where you’ll have the opportunity to view hundreds of alligators from protected walkways and platforms.

Next, head on over to “reptile habitat” where you’ll come face to face with lizards, water dragons, iguanas, snakes and more. Be sure to check out Myrtle, their resident 50-year-old alligator snapping turtle.

From the reptile habitat, you’ll want to venture into “tiny town,” a miniature town complete with a schoolhouse, barber shop, sheriff’s office, and more.

This is where you’ll encounter some of the cutest animals at the park: miniature horses, pygmy goats, peacocks and more will be peeking their heads out through the windows of the town.

Be sure to pop on over to “castaway island” to catch their daily feeding show. The shows begin at 11:30 a.m. and continue through 3:30 p.m. Watch these massive gators jump out of the water for their dinner in a spectacular show that the whole family will love.
