It sometimes feels as though history lies around every corner here in Maine. If it’s not family stories passed along for generations, it’s restaurants and bars that have played a role in shaping our state today. But, what we might love most are the simple things. This church building might look small, but the history contained inside is anything but. It was built in 1730 to serve a congregation of worshipers who formed together in 1653.

The church is the oldest in Kittery, and one of the oldest in the state of Maine. Other elements were added throughout the 1700s - including the parsonage house in 1729, and the cemetery in 1733.

In 1978, the church and associated buildings were added to the National Register of Historic Places.
