Horse-pulled wagons are an important part of the nation’s past, and that includes Maryland as well. Did you know that there’s a reenactment of sorts dedicated to this old method of travel? According to the town of Boonsboro’s website, the annual National Pike Wagon Train reenacts “the travel during the 1797 development of the National Pike.”

Since 1989, people have gathered with horse-drawn wagons to travel this route from Clear Spring to Boonsboro. The event’s slogan is “Travel the Road that Made the Nation.”
