In Western Maine, just off of Route 17 lies an expansive view over the Rangeley Lakes region.

The route to get here is almost as beautiful. Winding along Routes 17 and 4 as the roads wrap around Rangeley Lake, the beautiful byway follows the ridgeline of the mountains. It also travels through the gorgeous rolling hills and valleys of the area.

The term “Height of Land” actually refers to an area where two watersheds come together, but in this case it seems perfectly apropos to describe the view.

In addition to the views over the lake, there are tons of trees, flowers and wildlife to appreciate.

The view is accessible via the Appalachian Trail and, depending on the time of year, you might see thru-hikers crossing the road near here.
