Minnesota is full of amazing waterfalls. No matter where you live within the state’s borders, you don’t have to go far to find a beautiful river or creek with gorgeous falls. Some require a little more energy to get to, and some are accessible after just a short hike. That’s the case for the waterfall at Cascade River State Park. This little-known waterfall is often overshadowed by nearby Gooseberry Falls. But after a short and sweet hike, this waterfall is well worth the effort. Take a look:
Cascade River State Park is a 118-acre park on Minnesota’s North Shore. The address is 3481 Minnesota 61, Lutsen, MN 55612.

The park is criss-crossed with several hiking trails, each one even more beautiful than the last. Some line up with the Superior Hiking Trail.

One trail, in particular, the Cascade River Lower Loop, will take you to a series of beautiful, little-known waterfalls.

The trail is made up of hard-packed dirt and exposed stones. While it is not difficult, it is important to pay attention so that you keep your footing.

Along the way on this half-mile loop, you’ll pass through beautiful northern forest crawling with birds, deer, and other wildlife. It’s especially beautiful in the fall.

Of course, the main event is the Cascade River. This river is 17 miles long and runs south into Lake Superior.
