Summer in South Carolina brings with it a world of family-oriented activities including camping and swimming. High Falls County Park, located an easy 10 miles northeast of Walhalla, doesn’t actually have a waterfall as the name implies, but it has oh-so much more!

The 46-acre county park has beachfront access to the 18,500 acres that make up Lake Keowee and its 300 miles of shoreline.

As most would expect from a county park, there are picnic shelters, playground equipment, trails, restroom facilities, two fishing piers, a boat launch, and more.

The best kept secret is the beach the locals would prefer to keep to themselves. Located at the very end of the park, it has a mostly level beach and a dedicated swimming are marked by bouys that keep the boats out and the people in.

Camping enthusiasts return again and again to this spot. One hundred campsites are set up to accommodate a variety of camping preferences. Each has electricity and water.
