The elder Packer then gifted the mansion to his son, Harry, upon his marriage. By the time Robert and Patricia Handwerk, bought the mansion in 1983, it was in dire need of repair.

However, the couple restored the mansion to its former glory, opening it as a bed and breakfast, where guests feel like royalty.
