Reconnecting with Mother Nature on a hike in the Palmetto State doesn’t always have to mean conquering a mountain or traveling a long distance to reach the destination, or the overlook, or whatever the end point of the trail may be. It’s entirely possible to take a leisurely walk under the canopy of a shady forest on a trail that isn’t overly difficult – and still feel accomplished. Take a peek below; you may love this short waterfall hike in South Carolina.
The trail to Station Cove Falls (Walhalla, SC) is rated as easy.

It’s worth it to hike the trail twice (once after a rain and once when it hasn’t rained for a while) just to see the two different sides of Station Cove Falls.
The trail for this waterfall hike is located within the modest 210 acres that make up Oconee Station State Historic Site, which is a part of South Carolina State Parks.

When you arrive, go over to the historic site to check out the park, and then head back up the road a short distance to the trailhead.

The trail is mostly level terrain, with the exception of a few spots. Before you know it… you’ll be approaching Station Cove Falls.
