Rhode Island is not wildly famous for its waterfalls. At first glance, our stunning coast claims most of the glory when it comes to natural attractions. However, not all of our natural wonders are located in plain sight. Tucked away in a forest of western Rhode Island is a slide waterfall that’s definitely worth checking out.
Nicholas Farm Management Area is a 1429-acre natural area preserved by the state in Coventry. The land is mostly forested but has some wetlands, open fields, a pond, and a river making it a fantastic place to explore.

Many say that Carbuncle Pond is the highlight of Nicholas Farm. The scenic views are awe-inspiring and the trout fishing is top-notch.

While the pond is undoubtedly beautiful, particularly in the fall, there’s yet another spot nestled away on the property that’s worthy of a visit.

The slide waterfall is truly a sight to see. The water pours down a slanted rock formation creating a shallow but stunning waterfall.

As it crosses the rocks, the water takes on a deep emerald color before it tumbles into the shallows below. By now you might be thinking you want to take a ride down this slide waterfall but the water is not nearly deep enough to be a swimming hole.

You can bring your pups to enjoy splashing around in the water. Just make sure your dogs and yourself are wearing orange during hunting season at Nicholas Farm.
