At 17 blocks, the commercial historic district in Pocahontas is the largest in Arkansas. The district is home to many of the state’s oldest businesses as well as some of the first. Let’s take a stroll through this splendidly long district and see what historic goodies we find.

The perfect place to stop first is the museum.

Google/Jason Boyd The Randolph County Heritage Museum is a great place to learn more about the extensive history of the town. Be sure to pick up a walking tour pamphlet as you head out the door, it highlights all the interesting stops in the historic district.

As soon as you start strolling around the district you may notice some interesting art on the buildings.

Google/Jason Boyd Futrell’s Pharmacy is the state’s oldest drug store, it opened back in 1854. Sip on the nostalgia with an old school float from the pharmacy’s soda fountain.
