Something big is happening in Papillion, a Sarpy County city of just about 20,000 residents (and counting). The burgeoning community saw the need for a multi-purpose recreational facility that everyone could enjoy. Owned and operated by the City of Papillion, this new recreation complex is set to be the largest and most impressive in Nebraska.
Papillion Landing is an ambitious project that includes a 120,000-square-foot community center and an 80,000-square-foot field house.

As Papillion has grown in population, so have the community’s needs. Papillion Landing is meant to provide a fun and safe environment in which to enjoy all kinds of recreational activities.

The buildings each provide a large array of activities that will bring the community together. The field house, which opened in late 2018, contains a large artificial turf soccer field that can be divided into separate sections. It’s an ideal space for youth and adult sports leagues.

The field house’s spectator mezzanine lets visitors check out the action from a unique vantage point. The building also contains indoor batting cages, live pitching tunnels, meeting rooms, and more than 6,000 square feet of multi-purpose rental space.

The meeting rooms, multi-purpose area, and fields can be rented for a variety of purposes. This is an important component of the Papillion Recreation Department’s vision for this innovative facility. The complex gives the community a place to gather and helps to foster community ties.

When the community recreation center building opens, it will be a place that everyone can enjoy. Fitness classes, a huge aquatics center, birthday rooms for parties, a coffee shop, and an indoor playground are just some of the amenities offered in the large building.

Papillion residents can begin buying memberships in the Fall of 2019. Non-residents may also join, but the annual membership cost will be higher.
