Metro Diner is a Florida-based chain that got its start in 1938. Today, you can find 70 restaurants in 14 different states. As of this spring, one of those locations is New Jersey.

Then, there are creative picks like the Monte Cristo - a fried sourdough sandwich stuffed with turkey, ham, cheddar and American cheese, topped with powdered sugar, and served with raspberry preserves.
