Unlike typical gardens, botanical gardens feature a wide array of plants, which are labeled for easy identification. While we don’t have too many botanical gardens here in the Magnolia State, we do have a few. And one that definitely belongs on your bucket list is Mynelle Gardens. Spanning 7 acres, it includes a variety of colorful blooms, a pond, bridge, and more. Take a look:

Located in Jackson, Mynelle Gardens Arboretum and Botanical Center is open Monday through Saturday.

Like something from another world, the 7-acre garden features lush landscaping, shaded walking paths, and several sitting areas.

The incredible garden started off as the personal garden of Mynelle Westbrook Hayward, a Jackson native known nationally for flower arranging and gardening. Luckily, it was opened to the public in 1953 for all to enjoy.

Today, the winding paths are lined with colorful flowers and lush plants.

Beautiful statues and bronze works of art are nearly as plentiful.

As you make your way through the garden, you’ll find everything from rare flowers and exotic plants to familiar flora, like Azaleas and Camellias.

And since it’s a botanical garden, the flowers and plants are labeled, so you can learn all about the beautiful blooms.

A bridge, pond, and several fountains only add to the garden’s whimsical charm.
