Kentucky is a laid-back place where most enjoy a relaxing day on the water just as much (if not more) than a day in the city. Summer is the perfect time to enjoy the waters of the Bluegrass State and Kentucky For Kentucky is hosting an event that is perfect on a hot, sunny day. Their Third Annual Tube-A-Thon takes place on June 15, 2019, and this all-day float trip and tubing in Kentucky experience will make your summer complete.
Local organization Kentucky for Kentucky is hosting their fourth annual Tube-A-Thon this summer at Still Water Campground near Frankfort.
Facebook/Kentucky For Kentucky This epic event happens once a year and is a day filled with plenty of relaxation and fun.
Still Water Campground is perfectly located on Elkhorn Creek and is the ideal gathering spot for the event.
Google/Jammie Harper Tubing begins at 10 a.m. and goes all day, and you can choose to reserve a campsite, either tent or RV, for both Friday and Saturday nights, or just arrive the morning of the event.
The campground is located right on a horseshoe bend in the creek, which makes this the perfect spot for an all-day Tube-a-thon.
Facebook/Kentucky For Kentucky Follow signs to the clearly marked put-in point and come off the water at the take-out point. It’s then only a five-minute walk back to where you began if you want to go again, but there will also be shuttles running all day to make the trip even faster. With a ticket to the event, you are free to tube on the creek all day!
Tickets for the Tube-A-Thon are available for purchase online (website linked below) and vary in price depending on which type of ticket you choose.
Facebook/Kentucky For Kentucky They range from $15 to $40, and you can also purchase campsites when you buy tickets. Your ticket can be for the event only, meaning you’ll bring your own tube and life jacket, or for $46, with all gear provided for you.
The event is meant to be a fun-filled day for all Kentuckians, and everyone is welcome!
Facebook/Kentucky For Kentucky It is a family-friendly gathering, especially from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. for the Family Fun Tube. There is also a unique Twilight Tube that will begin at 7 p.m. It’s one of the best things to do in Kentucky as a family this summer.
This two-mile stretch of the Elkhorn is calm and inviting, but they do recommend that all tubers be independent swimmers.
Facebook/Kentucky For Kentucky Bring along some snacks and drinks (no glass!), and it’s sure to be a great day on the water while tubing in Kentucky.
While the tubing is the main feature of this festival, there are other activities that will easily make this a day-long event.
Facebook/Kentucky For Kentucky Food trucks will be available for you to chow down in between floats and West Sixth Brewing will also be there selling their local drinks. You can also look forward to live music and a festival-like atmosphere, perfect for a summer day in Kentucky.
June 15th is sure to be an exciting day for many in Kentucky, and you can still get in on the fun.

Tubing In Kentucky May 20, 2019 Andrea Limke Where is the best place to go tubing in Kentucky? In a state with so many rivers, creeks, and lakes, you’d expect to find many places to go tubing in Kentucky. While there are some destinations that offer this adventure, there aren’t many. This Tube-A-Thon event, described above, is a one day event that has some of the best tubing in Kentucky. You can also check out the Awesome Lazy River in Shepherdsville, which offers tubing for groups of all sizes every weekend, weather permitting, throughout the summer. Another exciting spot is Sheltowee Trace Adventure Resort, which offers tubing trips on both the Cumberland River and the Big South Fork. What else can I do besides tubing at this festival? While tubing is the main feature of this festival, there will be other things to do during the day and evening. You’ll be able to grab a bite to eat and something to drink from one of many food trucks and vendors at the event. You can also choose to make a weekend of the festival by booking a spot at Still Water Campground. Does Kentucky have clean rivers? The condition of Kentucky’s rivers varies greatly based on location, weather, and other factors. The rivers that offer tubing, kayaking, canoeing, and other water adventures tend to be the cleanest in the state. To be sure of the condition of the water before you visit, simply check with the destination ahead of time.
