Tucked away in George Washington National Forest near Luray awaits a hike that will bring your appreciation for beautiful mountain views to a whole new level. Kennedy Peak Loop is a relatively lengthy hike at 8.5 miles, but there’s a surprise at the top of the mountain that will make all your efforts worthwhile. Situated at the top of the peak is a mountain lookout tower that will bring you some of the best views in the state.

Arriving to the Kennedy Peak Trailhead, you can spend some time familiarizing yourself with the area before beginning your trek. You’ll want to follow the orange Massanutten blaze.

Eventually, you’ll arrive to a split in the trail, at which point you’ll want to begin following the White Blaze Trail on your right. Get ready, as this is the point at which things begin to pick up a bit!

The steady incline to the top of the trail is characterized by a bit of rocky scrambling and a moderate incline. Those who’ve completed the trail agree that wearing sturdy shoes is important.
