Kentucky loves its festivals, and from spring through fall, you can find several taking place each weekend. From small church gatherings to thousands of people meeting up to taste the best barbecue in the state, Kentucky knows how to celebrate. While many of these festivals are held right in cities, there is one destination that’s out of the way, but just as fun. Jane’s Saddlebag hosts a number of festivals throughout the season, including ones that feature wine and celebrate Mother’s Day – and this quirky and endearing property is about as country as it gets.
Jane’s Saddlebag is a family farm located in Union, overlooking the Ohio River. Before you even arrive, you’ll be immersed in the Kentucky countryside, and the atmosphere on the farm ensures you don’t forget it.

The farm is set up as a village of sorts, with a variety of “shops” that are home to things like a wine bar, restaurant, and a ticket booth for the activities. You can’t help but smile as you wander around and take in the sense of humor of this playfully laid back family.

While you can visit when there is no scheduled event, the festivals are very popular and a great time to check it out. Many of these events are free to attend - you just purchase food, drinks, and some activities once there. The Kids Festival, held on June 15th & 16th, 2019, is the perfect chance to take the kids, and adults should make a return visit for the Wine Festival on May 18th & 19th, 2019 for Jane’s largest event.

The food and drink offerings at Jane’s Saddlebag are some of the best surprises, as the restaurant includes a full menu. Chow down on their “Woolly Mammoth Burger” and wash it down with a wine slushie. The restaurant is open during the festivals, as well as when the farm is open on the weekends.
