Quirky probably isn’t the first thing that comes to mind when you think about Mississippi. But just like any other state, the Magnolia State has some places that can’t be described as anything other than quirky – and the Home of Scissors is definitely one of them. Take a look:

In the tiny town of Charleston, MS, you’ll find under 2,000 residents and the Home of Scissors - a charming house that was built specifically for Scissors, a world champion hog.

At one time, Scissors had quite the reputation and rightfully so, as he was crowned World Champion at the National Swine Show in Nebraska.

Scissors was rather large. And by large, we mean tremendous. Though reports vary, it’s said the Duroc-Jersey hog weighed between 1,250 and 1,800 pounds!

Because of his size, Scissors had to travel in a special train car.

His size also landed him his own posh pad, otherwise known as the Home of Scissors. The home was originally built by Scissors’ owner, Col. Tom Griffin James.

Back in the early 2000s, the home was restored and a pig statue, which stands to this day, was added .

Scissors’ home is located at 6629 MS-32, Charleston, MS 38921. The house is on the north side of the highway.

But Scissors didn’t just take home the title once. He was named World Champion two years in a row – 1917 and 1918.
