The sheltered cove of the Niantic Bay is home to Hole In The Wall Beach. While not as popular as many Connecticut beaches, this little lagoon has a whole bunch to offer.

To get to this lesser-known beach, you’ll walk through a short tunnel under the railway line. To kids, the tunnel looks like a hole in the wall, giving way to the beach of the same name.

The tunnel takes you onto the Niantic Bay Boardwalk. Turn to the left and this mile-long waterside walkway leads to Niantic Bay Beach.

But turn to the right and you’ll catch sight of a sandy secluded cove sandwiched between a rock jetty and the grassy McCook’s Point. This is Hole In The Wall Beach.
