There’s no doubt that Vermont is home to some of the most incredible hiking trails in the nation. We have waterfall hikes, historical trails, and even the oldest long-distance trail in the United States. A newer addition to our network of outdoor walking paths is the Lamoille Valley Rail Trail which will be 93 miles of stunning rail trail when it’s completed. 33 miles are currently open for use and on the stretch through Morrisville, you might just find yourself enticed off the trail for a stop at 10 Railroad Street, a delicious restaurant just waiting to satisfy hungry outdoor adventurers.
The Lamoille Valley Rail Trail (LVRT) is a beautiful multi-use trail being constructed on the bed of the former St. Johnsbury and Lake Champlain Railroad. The crushed stone surface makes the rail trail perfect for hiking and biking in the warm months and once the snow hits the ground, cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, and even snowmobiling.

You can currently use two sections of this amazing trail. Section 1A runs just over 15 miles from St. Johnsbury to West Danville. Section 1B extends from Cambridge to Morrisville in a 17.4-mile stretch.

Enjoy the relatively flat trail that meanders through the countryside and towns along the Lamoille River. This 4-season trail is a great way to enjoy your favorite outdoor recreation whether it be hiking, biking, or another outdoor activity.
