It’s not hard to imagine that where you live could determine your level of happiness, but some folks get really serious about figuring out which factors about a place really affect your day-to-day outlook on life. The website Zippia.com recently took a look at census data to see which New Hampshire town is the happiest, and you’ll want to pack your bags and move to the coast once you see the winner.
Zippia determined that there are seven factors that affect happiness: level of education, home ownership, employment, a short commute to work, a family, a low cost of living, and a decent income.

The study checked out the statistics for those seven factors, looking at all 24 towns in New Hampshire that had at least 2,000 residents. The winner?

Money certainly isn’t everything, but studies have found that those with an income over $70,000 typically feel more stable, less stressed, and happier overall. With a median household income of $78,706, folks in Hampton are doing pretty well.

With an unemployment rate of less than 3 percent, Hamptonites don’t seem to be missing out when it comes to job stability. And on average, it takes just 27 minutes for Hampton residents to get to work.

Home ownership helps people feel stable and committed to their community, and in Hampton about 67% of people own their homes. 58% of residents are married.

Zippia didn’t look at factors like natural beauty when it compiled its data, but we can’t help but feel that the scenic beauty here in Hampton has something to do with people’s overall good moods.
