With an area of nearly 1 1/2 square miles and more than 550 campsites, this family campground is like its own little resort town.

Located on the shoreline in Madison, Hammonasset Beach State Park is a local treasure. With two miles of sandy beach, hiking trails, wildlife, and a campground, this oasis is the perfect place for a family getaway.

The campground offers 552 grassy campsites with 56 offering electrical hookup. Just a few of the amenities include restrooms, showers, a camp store, and water spigots at the campsites.

Choose from a huge variety of spots to pitch your tent or park your camper. Some sites are shaded while others are open with views of the intercoastal waterways.

If you don’t own a camper or a tent, opt to rent one of the eight rustic cabins at Hammonasset for your getaway.

Each camping spot comes with its own picnic table. Bring your own fire pit or rent one at the camp store for cooking and campfire stories.

Visit the beach for a fun-filled day of swimming, sandcastle building, and seashell hunting. The beach is just a short walk or bike ride from the camp sites.

Meigs Point in the state park offers a unique opportunity for exploring the rockier shoreline. Kids love to hunt for crabs and climb the boulders.

The state park is open for day use year round to visitors. Hammonasset Beach Campground is open from May - October and reservations must be made in advance through Reserve America online.
