Spring is a magical time to be in Northern California. During a span of just weeks, our landscapes totally transform as plants and flowers begin to blossom. There’s no better place to witness this amazing transformation than this mesmerizing daffodil farm near the town of Volcano. The 36-acre farm is blanketed in stunning daffodils during this time of year and seeing it is a breathtaking experience that everybody can appreciate.
Every year from around mid-March to mid-April, hundreds of people flock to the destination known as Daffodil Hill. That’s because it’s during this time of year that the area explodes with thousands of gorgeous daffodils, and it’s a sight that must be seen to be believed.

Daffodil Hill is actually a 36-acre farm that has been owned by the McLaughlin family since 1887. In its beginnings, the ranch acted as a toll road for hauling timber and travelers passing through. Today, it’s one of Amador County’s finest attractions.

For the past two decades, the McLaughlins have planted around 6,000 bulbs every single year, and it’s believed the farm is covered in a whopping total of 300,000 bulbs. As a result, the farm becomes absolutely blanketed in daffodils every spring, and it’s truly an amazing sight to see.

Located in a breathtaking alpine landscape, the farm looks like something from a wonderful dream. Complete with an old barn, wagon wheels, farming tools, and pine trees, it’s a simply picturesque destination that you can’t help but absolutely adore.

Flowers aren’t the only delightful things you’ll come across! Peacocks, chickens, and lambs are also known to roam around the ranch’s property. Be sure to carve out plenty of time to explore Daffodil Hill, because you may not be able to bring yourself to leave.

This year, Daffodil Hill opened to the public on Saturday, March 30. However, the threat of rain has closed the attraction for the week of April 1, 2019.
