- Dolce Bakeshop
Dolce Bakeshop/Facebook
Dolce Bakeshop/Facebook Start your trip off with a stop by this “charming little bakery by the sea.” In addition to bakery staples, like cakes, cookies, and cupcakes, the sweet shop is known for its extreme shakes, which come piled high with all sorts of toppings. Only adding to the bakery’s charm is the fact that you get to keep the Mason jar mug your shake is served in.
Address: 112 W 3rd Street, Long Beach, MS, 39560
- The Yard

Haison Cao/Google Opened in April 2019, this is the newest place on the trail; however, it doesn’t mean it’s any less worthy. For years, The Yard has been serving up decadent dairy desserts at its other locations in Alabama and Florida. Luckily, Mississippi now has its own location (next to Five Guys), which is great news for milkshake lovers since The Yard is known for its “crazy specialty milkshakes.”
Address: 3840 Promenade Parkway, D’Iberville, MS, 39540
- Ed’s Burger Joint
Ed’s Burger Joint/Facebook
Brenda Stimely/Google While Ed’s is technically a burger joint, it just so happens to serve amazing milkshakes that are bound to be unlike any you’ve ever tasted. The “outrageous shakes” are hand-dipped and made with real ice cream, whole milk, and “real deal ingredients.” Look over the menu, and you’ll find everything from standard flavors, like vanilla and chocolate, to unique creations.
Address: 3800 Hardy Street, Hattiesburg, MS, 39402
- Brent’s Drugs
Rick Hoffner/Google
Oscar Bosarge/Google This traditional drug store has been serving the Jackson area for years now, and in that time, has gained a reputation for its charmingly retro décor and tasty milkshakes. In fact, the eatery’s PB&J-inspired shake has been named the best milkshake in the state by Consolidated Food Service. The publication also recognized the Maltdown milkshake and Orange Dreamsicle milkshake.
Address: 655 Duling Avenue, Jackson, MS, 39216

esdrenton/TripAdvisor
Pam T/TripAdvisor Between the retro feel and extensive menu of desserts, a visit to Spencer’s is sure to be a memorable (and tasty) one. The shakes are one of the top sellers – and with over 24 flavors to choose from, your only complaint will be having to decide which to order.
