This little slice of the coast marks the end of Lewis and Clark’s epic journey. You’ll find a statue celebrating the two explorers at the Seaside Turnaround.

Built in 1920, the turnaround provided a way for cars to turn back the other direction when traveling down Broadway Street. Today, it’s a popular spot for ocean-gazing visitors to gather for a few selfies with Lewis and Clark.

The stretch of beach right in front of the turnaround is a popular playground. Families build bonfires and sandcastles, and kids love the swing set that’s been there for decades.

The “Prom” stretches for 1.5 miles along the coast, from Avenue U all the way north to 12th Avenue.

It’s the perfect spot for a lazy stroll, and there are plenty of benches along the way where you can sit and enjoy a cup of coffee or ice cream cone while you people-watch.

Of course, the ocean and coastal views are well worth your gaze, too!

Keep an eye out for joggers who like to keep a faster pace. There’s nothing like a morning workout in the fresh, ocean air. The Prom is 15 feet wide, so there’s plenty of room for everyone.

During summer months, Seaside can be pretty packed with tourists. Avoid the crowds with a visit during the off-season months. While the weather can be colder and rainy, the prom is just as beautiful in the winter.
