There are over 300 acres of thick rugged trees that provide a great amount of shade, which makes it a popular spot during the summer.

There are nine trails in the wilderness area, most of which are rugged and non-paved. For a relatively easy hike, try out the Blue Trail - a 1.5-mile looped trail that passes by a lake and goes into the heart of Turkey Mountain.

Turkey Mountain Wilderness Area is part of the River Parks Trails that runs along the Arkansas River, so you can extend your trip even further if you like to jog or bike on pavement. These trails run along the east side of the Arkansas River.

Another cool feature visitors can enjoy is the hammock setups. There are lots of places to hang the hammock in Turkey Mountain or you can find a slackline area at 56th and Riverside.

This little oasis in the heart of the city is truly a spectacular place for biking and hiking. You can visit seven days a week from 5:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m.
