When it comes to going thrifting or shopping for antiques, you’ll find that most areas throughout our state offer a nice variety of stores to pick from. An often underrated region of New York to explore though is our Southern Tier, but don’t worry, we’ve found your latest reason to go and head down this way. Only a half-hour west of the city of Binghamton, it’s time you explore the small town of Owego and get some one-of-a-kind shopping done.
In the small town of Owego down in Tioga County, the Early Owego Antique Center takes up an entire corner on Lake Street.

Open since 2013, the antique center was once the J.J. Newberry Department Store that was open back in the 1950s.

Those who visit the old department store today will see that the 21,000-square-foot building has been transformed into one of New York’s best antique centers.
