Most of New Hampshire is lovely and full of beauty. In colonial times, this cemetery was likely a family burial ground. You’l still find graves from the namesake GIlsons.

Legend says that the stone wall surrounding the cemetery once enclosed a small farmhouse that eventually burned down killing the people inside. These people were buried near the wrecked remains of the house.

Another house was built on the same location, but that burned as well. Just like the first fire, the people inside were burned and killed, eventually being buried in the same area.

After this, most people avoided the area and the two plots became an actual cemetery.

People report feeling cold spots, seeing bright lights and hearing voices here i the cemetery even if there is nobody (living) nearby.

Just up the road, folks say they’ve seen the ghost of a colonial woman named Betty Gilson. If you say aloud, “Betty Gilson, I have your baby” she will appear in period clothing looking to retrieve her child.

Some say they’ve had to swerve to avoid her ghost while driving on the road.
