It may be hot outside, but that doesn’t mean you can’t still get outdoors and do some exploring. Louisiana has 21 state parks peppered throughout the state, and each one offers nature trails filled with beautiful scenic views. Today we are headed to good old Ville Platte to take a look at the largest state park in the Pelican State that just so happens to have one of the most beautiful boardwalk trails in Louisiana.

Welcome to Chicot State Park!

The park is nestled along Lake Chicot, a popular spot for fishing, kayaking, and wildlife viewing.

This beautiful boardwalk trail completely encircles the lake and is roughly 20 miles long.

For those more inclined to sleeping in an air conditioned space, you can’t go wrong with their lakeside cabins.
